This rite marks the moment a crew or cult commits to a shared undertaking. Offerings of coin, blood, or weighted objects are cast into deep water, and oaths are spoken not of loyalty, but of mutual gain. It is believed that those who perform the First Sounding properly will be “measured” favorably by the Courtiers.
