|overview= Master Asinius is, perhaps, the most hated man on the [[Marcus Basileios|Prefect’s]] staff. As head of the household, it is his duty to insure that the Prefect and his men are fed, the Prefect’s clothes laundered, and the servants performing those duties accorded to them. It is also his duty to purchase new slaves, when necessary, and see to their care and upkeep. Unfortunately, Master Asinius has a particular dislike for the local stock of slaves, and not a few surly Gael slaves have fallen under his whip. Rumors circulate about his various vices, particularly concerning the Prefect’s female or adolescent slaves, and it is said that he is a powerful force in the local slave trade, both legal and illegal. He is efficient, however, and serves his Prefect without question. Once, soon after the Prefect’s arrival, two men disguised as slaves attempted to assassinate Basileios, and Master Asinius was the one to discover them attempting to enter the Prefect’s chambers. He killed both men single-handedly, and the Prefect awarded him greatly for saving his life.

Asinius is of medium build, with a shaved head and a furtive glare. He is never seen without his spiked whip and the old suit of studded leather armor that was his father’s. He also sports a long, nasty scar on his cheek which, if rumors be true, came from a slave who took his whip from him.
